I first listened to the iconic Beach Boys' song, "I Wish They All Could Be California Girls" sung by David Lee Roth (lead singer of one of the the best rock and roll bands in my opinion, Van Halen), during my high school years in the early 80's, back in a small farm town in Ohio. Little did I know back then, that ten years later I would become a California girl. And even way lesser known back then, did I know I would become an artist championing nostalgic coastal art, heavily inspired by The Beach Boys. The Beach Boys' music embodies coming of age exhilarating feelings of freedom, the beach, and first time love. Their music is timeless and a continual source of inspiration for my art. Tonight I watched the documentary movie (on Showtime) entitled The Beach Boys: Making Pet Sounds. I was blessed to have seen the 50th anniversary concert of the 1966 Pet Sounds album performed live (with Beach Boy master mind, and musical genius Brian Wilson, along with Beach Boy Al Jardine) at the Hollywood Bowl in 2016. The Beach Boys, through their music, have truly created the essence of Americana, and the embodiment of the California Dream. And that dream lives on forever...

My Mother would always play beach boy songs when I was younger. I didn't know that they were the ones that sang those songs before. I really enjoyed listening to their music. It's a sad thing that I wasn't born in their era of music. However, I do believe that I'm still a big fan of their music.
